Myths & Imaginary Magicians (Debut Record)

"Perfectly arr
anged music, dead on vocals for such music, and great lyrical content is what makes this cd a great listen." - Askew Reviews

Foreshadows On The Wall

Even in Blackouts' second release, Foreshadows on the Wall, adds to the band's manifesto of creating acoustic music that is both powerful and melodic. Even in Blackouts have been stunning audiences with their highly energetic acoustic pop that transcends an amazing array of styles. The astonishing resumes of the band's members conjure a trend setting quality to their distinctive sound; a cast of some of the most influential artists in the pop underground today. Even in Blackouts is comprised of the stunning voice of vocalist Lizzie Eldredge, Screeching Weasel co-founder guitarist John "Jughead" Pierson, drummer Dan Lumley (Screeching Weasel, Squirtgun, Common Rider, The Mopes) and includes a special musical appearance by Danny Vapid (Screeching Weasel, The Methadones, Riverdales, The Mopes.) The band's distinctive pedigree espouses the notion of always to lead, never to follow. And this release is yet another chapter in a continually changing story arch for these trend smashing musicians.

Zeitgeist's Echo

"The voice and words are what you might find in an indie
coffee shop in the mountains (I was thinking Seattle or Asheville, NC), wit
h a lot of folk influence, filtered through a strainer of Sunday worship service. Lizzie Eldredge is fluent in both the intimate tones of the coffee shop poet, and the husky shouts of a punk singer. She shows real talent, straining with intensity at the end of phrases, like in ‘Curtains part 1”. Harmony comes from guest vocalists and other band members, especially a duet with Dan Vapid of the Queers on ‘In A Letter..’. The ‘Curtains’ trilogy of songs turns the tension of relationships into a philosophical critique with a delicious vocal harmony at the end a
nd spoken word throughout the first part. The songwriting is calm and mature, exactly poetry put to song, haunted by images of morning and light, dying and ghosts of relationships past. It’s like they sat down and converted a beautiful painting into musical form.

Although Even in Blackouts may be relatively new, their members bring years of experience to the table with the complexity of
Zeitgeist’s Echo. This will infiltrate the scene as a beautiful and unusual band that listeners of all types just can’t help listening to."

Fall Of The House Of Even

For their third full-length release, Even In Blackouts has taken another step in the progression of their sound. Every track on Fall of the House of Even takes a separate approach as if they were different rooms in a decrepit house. Each one of those rooms carries its own occupant, and with that entity comes different musical influences ranging from punk, bluegrass, jazz and R&B. Match the occasionally dark undertones with their always present energy and angelic female voice, and you get EIB’s most inspired release yet.

Thresholds From The Basement

Even In Blackouts' fourth and strongest release finds them once again pressing at the walls of their pop-punk origins to emerge with a sound that is richer, more unique, and more inviting than any record store category can define. 'Thresholds' is the diamond of their rough history. Recorded on a shoe-string budget, it holds the essence of all punk music.

Chivalry is NOT Dead, It's just Bleeding. Please help out our Bassist Phillip Hill by sending any cash you can to the paypal donation center our friend Mass Giorgini set up for him. He has no health insurance and will be out of music action for at least three months.

Here is the donation email for paypal: helpphilliphill@gmail.com

From Phillip Hill:

"I'm finally home from the hospital after getting jumped by four guys on Friday night. These guys were attacking a girl in a parking lot where my car was parked and I tried to save her. They were basically grabbing the girl by the arms and pulling her back and forth. They may have been trying to force her into their car. I walked over and said, "Hey! What the hell are you guys doing?!" She broke away from them and ran over to me. I asked her if she was o.k., and she said yes and thanked me for helping her. Then the guys charged me and tackled me to the ground. I landed on my back on top of a concrete parking block, breaking four of my ribs and collapsing my right lung. Then all four of them took turns stomping and kicking my chest, ribs, and head. One of them ripped the side-view mirror off of my car and started smashing the glass into my face repeatedly.

As they were stomping me on the ground, I noticed that the girl was still standing there crying with her hands over her mouth. She looked like she was debating on trying to help me. I managed to make eye contact with her and yelled for her to "RUN!". Then they started smashing my face with my side-view mirror some more and stomping my face. I guess she got away while I had the thugs distracted. I managed to get into my car and lock myself inside. I started to call the cops, but they saw what I was doing. Then I realized one of the guys had my keys! They said, "Hang up the fucking phone and we'll give you your keys and 30 seconds to get out of here before we drag you out of your car and beat your fucking ass to death." I drove down the street, barely able to breathe because of my ribs and lung. As I was driving, 911 called back. I pulled over and told them I needed an ambulance. By the time the ambulance and the cops got there, the thugs were long gone."

After seven years of struggle and the most amazing life-changing times

I just wanted to thank the donators to our record, and also a special thank you to the people who are continuing to send us donations after the campaign has ended. The donations that are still coming in have been very helpful. Liz, Gub, and I are flying out to Bice's studio in Boston to mix the record, and hopefully it will be ready for release in late August or early September.

I have one more request, if anybody has access to a Photoshop for a pc laptop that I can have, this can be used as a donation for the record, and will received a signed cd. I need to design the cover, but I no longer have a version of photoshop that can be used with my sony laptop.

Please e-mail me if you have access to such a thing.

Thanks

Well EIB fans, it is that time again for a new Even In Blackouts Record, and once again we would like to create a record outside of the box. We are going to fund the whole project removed from the limitations and the imagined and/or actual pressure of a labels monetary decision making. We realized that we could record a new cd with less funds if we rented equipment and did it ourselves. Since we have three engineers, and at least one carpenter in the band, plus a house, there is no reason why we shouldn’t turn my basement into a recording studio and record the whole album in the underground confines of my home. It is not that we have any problems with the idea of a label, it just seems many prospective labels have problems with us. It is inherent in the concept of EIB to experiment with styles and to take chances whenever we can, and this doesn't always jive with a label trying to promote a band or a style of music. I understand this reasoning and subsequent perception of the band. I myself constantly feel the pressure as a creator to fight my own instincts to appease the public by giving them what they think they want instead of what could potentially pleasantly surprise them. We have no hostility in regards to this situation, it just limits our choices as to how to put out a record.

Our last recording, Fall Of The House Of Even, was partially funded by donations made by you, our fans. In return many of you received signed cds and shirts, booklet pages named after you, and voice samplings in a song. This, except for a few wildly odd criticisms, was a great experience for us and for the fans that were made to feel, rightfully, that they were a part of our project. It quite literally could not have been done without them...YOU, reading this. Some of you even became good friends along the way. We believe that the fun, diversity, oddness, and energy of Fall Of The House Of Even was made possible by this liberating approach. We can't help but believe in the creative freedom we will be allowed by actually living at my house with the studio in the basement. I have no doubt that this endeavor will spawn a whole new slew of adventurous, strange, raw, and beautiful songs and outtakes. In the face of all this it is a piece of hard reality that none of us in the band have access to funds beyond what keeps us alive. If we did I would not ask for help.

So once again we are looking towards our fan base to help support this record. Here are the ways in which you can contribute:

1: The most simple is a 30.00 - 99.00 dollar donation: You will receive an autographed cd, a shirt of your choosing from our present collection, stickers and buttons, and your name, or whatever you represent (company, band, etc..), on the booklet as a contributor.

2: 100.00 to 149.00 dollar donation: One of the concepts on the record is thresholds. Each page of the booklet will be a door. You can have your name, company, band, etc, written on one of these doors. You can even send us a picture of your very own door if you want to. You will also receive an autographed cd and your name, or whatever you represent (company, band, etc..), on the booklet as a contributor.

3: 150.00 to 200.00 dollar donation: The front cover will be a collage that I, John Jughead Pierson, compile from photos that YOU send us. The cover of the record will be created by your contribution of any kind of photo you want. (self portrait, some art work you have the rights to, your house, your dog, a hole in the ground, a picture of you looking directly into the sun, whatever you want.) You will also receive an autographed cd and your name, or whatever you represent (company, band, etc..), on the booklet as a contributor. And a 11 by 17 autographed poster of the collaged artwork.

And Finally one of the most exciting to us:

4: $30.00 to $50.00 invitation: During the recording we will be hosting a few nights of Living Room shows. You will be invited to our house in Chicago to partake of one acoustic show, a home-cooked meal prepared for you from the band itself, and a night full of drinking, music and shanagans. (If you are from out of town, we are allowing a few people to stay the night if requested, so they don't have to drive hours home tired and drunk.) We do not supply transportation Here are the dates:

Thursday May 29th

Thursday June 5th

Friday June 6th

The Living Room Shows will go quick so please RSVP with a payment ASAP

All payments can be made by cash or check by mail and made out to: Hope And Nonthings 5059 W Winona Chicago IL 60630
Or you can make a paypal payment to jrp@hopeandnonthings.com

Please email us at jrp@hopeandnonthings.com before sending a check, money order or payment to paypal. Just to make sure we have room or that donation tier still available.

Thank you. We are very excited about this opportunity
